Why does psychiatric transcription need specialist typists?

Psychiatric reports carry long narrative histories, quoted statements from the examinee, diagnostic criteria, medication regimens and numerical test data in the same document. Vocabulary that a general transcriptionist rarely encounters appears constantly, and much of the meaning sits in small words: denies, reports, endorses, no longer.

How are test scores and validity findings handled?

Numerical results, scale names and validity findings are treated as high-risk data in QA. Where a score or scale is unclear on the audio it is flagged for the evaluator. Interpretation stays with the clinician — transcription captures the dictated findings and opinion, it does not infer them.

What does the workflow look like?

You dictate as you normally would and send the audio through our encrypted upload. A transcriptionist trained on that report family types the first draft, a separate reviewer performs quality assurance against your template, and the finished document comes back ready for your review and signature.

How is file handling secured?

Audio and finished reports are transferred and stored encrypted with an audit trail of every file. Signed NDAs cover the people who handle your dictation, and BAAs are available on request before the first file changes hands. We ask that protected health information is never sent through the public quote form — use the upload instead.

What is the turnaround on psychiatric reports?

Psychiatric reports run on a 48-hour standard because of their length and testing content, with an 18 to 24 hour STAT option when a deadline requires it.
