What is medical-legal transcription?
Medical-legal transcription turns dictated evaluations written for insurers, attorneys and courts into structured reports. Unlike clinical transcription, its output is evidence: causation, apportionment, impairment and work-restriction language must be captured literally, and jurisdiction-specific forms and terminology have to be followed.
How is medical-legal transcription different from medical transcription?
A clinical note is written for the next treating clinician. A medical-legal report is written for people who will argue about it. That changes the work: nothing is paraphrased, negations and qualifiers are preserved, numbers are treated as critical data, and each jurisdiction's report format is followed rather than a house style.

Which report tracks are covered?
Three specialty tracks: general medical-legal, orthopedic and neurological, and psychiatric — each staffed by transcriptionists trained on that field's vocabulary. Deposition transcripts and record reviews run alongside them.
What does the workflow look like?
You dictate as you normally would and send the audio through our encrypted upload. A transcriptionist trained on that report family types the first draft, a separate reviewer performs quality assurance against your template, and the finished document comes back ready for your review and signature.

How is file handling secured?
Audio and finished reports are transferred and stored encrypted with an audit trail of every file. Signed NDAs cover the people who handle your dictation, and BAAs are available on request before the first file changes hands. We ask that protected health information is never sent through the public quote form — use the upload instead.

What counts as medical-legal transcription?
Any dictated evaluation produced for a claim, lawsuit or disability determination rather than for treatment — IME, QME, AME, peer review, record review and impairment rating reports.
Can one provider cover several states?
Yes. Work is routed by the jurisdiction of the evaluation, so an evaluator practicing across states still receives state-correct formatting.
Is the workflow HIPAA compliant?
Files are transferred and stored encrypted with a full audit trail, and BAAs or signed NDAs are available on request before any file changes hands.
